Every genre has a different promise to keep.
A mystery makes promises to its reader that a romance never would, and the planning follows. Find the promise your book is making.
What the questions are actually testing
The quiz runs the same tests an editor would. Is the impossible load-bearing, or could you cut it and lose nothing? Delete the love story: if the book falls apart, the romance was the plot all along. Does your reader look backward at a crime already committed, or forward at one that might still be stopped in time?

A genre is a promise about what the ending will deliver. Each workbook in the series is built around one of those promises, which is why there are six of them and not one. The quiz uses three questions to find yours faster than a blank page will.
